Professional Experience

  • Assistant Professor, Fall 2003 - Present
    Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ
Teaching interests include optimization, scheduling and logistics. Research interests and activities include computational and theoretical aspects of integer programming and combinatorial optimization, application of integer programming and combinatorial optimization techniques to practical problems, and modern heuristic techniques.
  • Teaching Assistant, Spring 2003
Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA
Teaching an undergraduate course on logistics. This course is made up of three fundamental logistics modules: supply chain design, supply chain planning and execution, and transportation. The course focuses on engineering design concepts and optimization models for addressing logistics decision making.
  • Research Assistant, Fall 1999 - Summer 2003
Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA
Investigated modelling of piecewise linear functions without auxiliary binary variables. Developed a branch and cut algorithm for piecewise linear optimization.
  • Research Assistant, Fall 1998 - Summer 1999
Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey
Worked on application of genetic algorithms to bicriteria scheduling problems.
  • Teaching Assistant, Fall 1998 - Summer 1999
Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey
Assisted faculty members with undergraduate linear programming and probability theory courses. Participated in the preparation and grading of homework assignments and tests. Prepared and taught weekly recitations.
