An Objective Worth Striving For...

Industrial Engineering Students,

      This web page has been prepared to provide information about the Industrial Engineering honor society, Alpha Pi Mu, a national organization which has a chapter at Arizona State University in Tempe. Its history scope, standards and purpose are briefly described so that you may be aware of membership requirements and benefits to members.
      While candidates are selected from outstanding members of the junior, senior and graduate classes in industrial engineering, this web page has been prepared so that you may know about the society early enough to "Plan Ahead" - to attempt to achieve the record required for membership. Individual chapter entrance requirements may vary, but excellent ability as demonstrated by scholarship, leadership, sociability, and ethicality are the chief requirements for membership.

Membership Requirements

      The National Constitution sets minimum scholarship requirements for membership eligibility. Individual chapters may establish requirements above this minimum level. The Constitution states that only those ranked in the upper one-fifth of the junior class or the upper one-third of the senior class can be considered for membership. Graduate students who have demonstrated exceptional scholarly achievement may, upon nomination by the department head, be considered for membership. Alpha Pi Mu encourages this high caliber of performance to help insure of success in your profession.
      The society hopes to play a role in stimulating such performance early in your college career, and then to provide a common ground during active membership for you and other industrial engineering leaders to exchange ideas and to encourage mutual growth. It hopes also to improve the profession by providing experience which will prove useful to you during your professional career. It is sincerely hoped that you will strive for top performance, and that you will become eligible upon reaching upper-class status.
