ASU Online Transfer Orientation
AZ Course Applicability System
Transfer Admission Requirements 2007-08
All transfer students are initially admitted to the freshman and sophomore portion of the program but some may be eligible to immediately request advancement to upper-division courses (see Advancement to Upper-Division Courses). The admission standards have been set to select students who are ready for one of the professional programs (e.g., demonstrated math and science competency) and who have demonstrated the ability to succeed in a postsecondary environment (at least 24 hours of work with a GPA of 3.00 or higher). Transfer students with less than 24 transfer hours must also satisfy one of the high school performance criteria. Upon admission to one of the school’s programs it is highly recommended that transfer students make an appointment to meet with the program’s academic advisor to assess their status and develop a plan for success.
Students following the 2007-08 general catalog (and forward) are required to adhere to the eAdvisor (critical tracking) requirements associated with that catalog. eAdvisor provides Critical Requirements and Major Maps which are student reports that layout a specific, clear, and accurate track to timely completion of the intended degree. The eAdvisor system monitors a student’s progress toward their selected degree and shows which requirements have been accomplished and which requirements or electives remain to earn a degree in their chosen major.
The Critical Requirements and Major Maps include courses that the faculty have identified as key predictors of success in a given major. Critical requirements typically include minimum grades and milestones of performance to be accomplished within the first 2 years (four full-time semesters) of the degree program.
Performance in critical requirements is a key component in progressing in the chosen major. Students following the 2007-08 catalog (and forward) will use critical requirements obtain advancement to upper-division courses.
Students who do not meet the critical requirements in their major should meet with an academic advisor and also use the Degree Search function available in eAdvisor to explore programs that align with the student’s abilities and aspirations. The system will show the student which of the courses taken previously count towards the new major’s requirements or electives, and what and how many additional courses the new major will entail.
