Frequently Asked Questions
Following is a list of frequently asked questions from Transfer Students.
- What is eAdvisor/Major Maps(critical tracking) and who does it apply to ?
eAdvisor is an advising/enrollment management system that monitors students' progress toward their selected degree. The system informs students what classes they need to graduate, when they need to take each course, and how to find alternatives to their current major that might better fit their talents and interests. Any student who is following the 2007-08 or later catalog is required to adhere to eAdvisor critical requirements. Students are encouraged to consult a Fulton School of Engineering Advisor to discuss critical requirements for the desired degree program.
- Where can I find eAdvisor Roadmaps for the Fulton School of Engineering programs?
eAdvisor: http://www.asu.edu/programs/majormaps/
- What happens if I get 'off track'?
Students will be required to meet with an advisor if they are determined to be 'off track'. Intervention strategies will be provided to help the student be successful in their major, or guide them toward resources to investigate new majors. Students are encouraged to consult a Fulton School of Engineering Advisor to discuss their options.
- How long can a student be 'off track'?
Students can only be 'off track' for two consecutive semesters (does not include winter and summer sessions).
- Won't many transfer students be immediately 'off track' because their former institutions don't offer some of the courses listed in the first 4 semesters of the roadmaps?
No. Transfer students will be placed into an appropriate critical tracking term based on transcript analysis - so transfer students will all start 'on track'.
- When should I transfer to the Fulton School of Engineering?
Ideally you should apply to ASU and the Fulton School of Engineering a year in advance of your planned attendance. Most students will want to start courses at Fulton as soon as they have completed all the critical requirements outlined in the first 3 semesters of the program. Students should get in touch with an academic advisor in the Fulton School as soon as they are admitted to the school.
- How can I get in touch with an advisor in the Fulton School of Engineering?
Use this link for a current list of advisors http://www.fulton.asu.edu/fulton/students/sas/. It is best to make an appointment.
- How can I find out if my Arizona Community College course is equivalent to an ASU course?
The Course Applicability System (CAS) can be used to determine the equivalency between community college courses and courses at ASU (and UofA and NAU). The CAS URL is http://az.transfer.org/cas/students/index.html. You will want to access the Course Equivalency Guide in the Quick Links box on the left hand side. This will bring you to a page where you can select a community college (or university) and then a prefix and find equivalencies for courses with the selected prefix. If you want a more specific search you can select Search All CEGs at the bottom of the page.
Note: If you create an account on CAS you can enter the courses you have taken and see how they can be used in any of the Fulton School of Engineering (or ASU) programs.
