Expectations
The following are expectations for students in the program:
- Be professional, on time, and dependable.
- Be courteous and respectful at all times, regardless of gender, race, nationality, or religion.
- Fulfill the hours and terms of the internship agreement with your company.
- Continue with their program of study and maintain a satisfactory GPA.
- If your company offers the intern a job at graduation, the student will give it first consideration before other offers, all else being equal.
- If the student leaves the school of engineering to register with another college in the University, they must notify you and the Engineering Internship Center immediately.
- If for any unforeseen circumstance or event it becomes impossible for the intern to finish the contract, they will notify the sponsoring company and the Engineering Internship Center immediately.
- If the student has any problems or issues at the internship with your employer, they will notify the Engineering Internship Director at the first indication so that we may prevent situations from escalating into circumstances beyond repair. EIP is here to assist the student to succeed with your internship!
Expectations for industry are:
- Provide work experience and supervision relevant to the intern's discipline.
- Keep the lines of communication open with the Engineering Internship Center to avoid or resolve issues so that the internship is both productive and successful for the intern and the sponsoring company.
