The Engineering Technical Services strategic planning process has led to a new and more effective technical support model for the Fulton School. ETS staff have now been reassigned directly to the departments, thus moving the supply of service closer to the demand and eliminating the delays associated with a central dispatching system. At the same time, this new model empowers the departments to control their own priorities and make the important decisions they need to make.
Each department is implementing their own internal procedures for assisting their employees with Windows and Macintosh PC problems. Effective June 27, 2008, we will be closing the ETS Helpdesk permanently. This includes the helpdesk window, the helpdesk website, the helpdesk phone number, and the helpdesk email address.
For Windows and Macintosh technical support, please refer to the department specific instructions at our website: http://www.fulton.asu.edu/ets/ETSLabs/DistributedSupportModel.php.
Note that most departments require online entry of a service request at: http://sr.fulton.asu.edu.
For all other technical support issues such as Unix support of infrastructure problems, please submit your request at our online system at http://sr.fulton.asu.edu.
The UTO has now made some of the University site licensed software available via download. Click the above title link (requires ASURite authentication).
Engineering Technical Services (ETS) in the Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering is pleased to offer a new, fully managed virtual server-on-demand server environment for the Engineering School. Available at the low cost of $1800/VM/5 yrs, this new model is a more cost effective and manageable solution, enabling ETS to continue its rapid response to growing UNIX and Windows server demands. The model uses virtualization software, with virtual private server hosting features for either a UNIX or Windows server environment.
We are phasing out our old legacy distributed servers, and ETS staff priorities will be directed to our server-on-demand model, and in the near-future ETS support will not be available for independent distributed servers.
For more information, refer to the server-on-demand website or contact Denise.Felsenthal@asu.edu.
If you want to test some different configuration options, please contact Denise.Felsenthal@asu.edu or 5-7872.
