Dear Students and Postdoctoral Fellows:
The 6th International Summer School on Biocomplexity from System to Gene sponsored by the NSF, the Barrett Honors College at ASU and co-sponsored by the IEEE EMB Society, the Harrington Department of Bioengineering at ASU and the Bogazici University will be held on July 1-8, 2007, Istanbul, Turkey.
The objective of the summer school is to train senior undergraduate, graduate engineering biological science, brain science, bioengineering students in computational and mathematical sciences including the theory, implementations and applications of both emerging and current computational tools, modelling and signal processing methods in medicine, molecular biology, brain sciences, population biology and genomics.
The summer school is an excellent learning, teaching and brain storming opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students.
I believe that it is extremely important for students to personally meet with leaders in the field, while enjoying a pleasant location.
I suggest you visit the web page of the five Biocomplexity summer school at www.dartmouth.edu/~bioc2001, www.dartmouth.edu/~bioc2002, www.dartmouth.edu/~bioc2003, www.dartmouth.edu/~bioc2004 and www.dartmouth.edu/~bioc2005 respectively.
This year, we have several fellowships from the NSF and the Barrett Honors College at ASU, for students to attend the summer school. The NSF funding will be mainly used to provide the fellowships and cover the summer school expenses of the recipients who are undergraduate and graduate students at US institutions
I STRONGLY encourage you to apply for the fellowship. The fellowships will be awarded based on the scientific credentials of the candidates including their academic standing, the relevance of their research (only from graduate students) their career goals and the financial necessity.
Prospective candidates should send along with their application, their CV's, a recommendation letter from their advisor or their department chair, a summary of their research (only from graduate students) and their career goals for evaluation to Prof. Akay at Metin.Akay@asu.edu. Applications must be submitted by May 15, 2007. Women, minorities, students with disabilities are highly encouraged to apply.
You are also welcome to visit our web page . Additional information will be added from time to time.
